Michael True, Director of the Internship Center at Messiah College, is surveying internship professionals, individual employers, Chambers of Commerce, and Workforce Development boards to find out what employers’ thoughts are on the issue of unpaid internships.

Michael True released some preliminary results on Wednesday, April 28:
108 respondents (16 employers, remainder colleges/universities)
87% of colleges/universities said employers have not expressed concern about offering internships. 92% said employers will not be withdrawing internship opportunities with their companies.
72% of employers reported that they had become aware of the issue in the last four to six weeks. 95% said they will not withdraw internship opportunities with their companies as a result.
